The Medieval Studies Program coordinates a wide range of activities
on
the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. It provides a focus for the interdisciplinary
study of the
history and culture of the Middle Ages (covering the period
roughly from late antiquity to
the fifteenth century) by sponsoring courses and related
events, such as lectures and symposia.
Participating faculty
members represent many academic disciplines
and fields, and the Program
offers most of its courses through or in conjunction with
other departments,
such as History, Classics, Comparative Literature, Art History,
History of Science, Medical History, English, French and Italian, German,
Scandinavian Studies, and Spanish and
Portuguese.
